  • Raleigh’s annual arts festivalArtsplosure — is back this weekend, Oct. 9-10, after a ~2 year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, visitors can expect 2 days of live music, food trucks, beer stands, art installations, children’s activities, and over 175 artists selling artwork at the art market in Downtown Raleigh.
  • The Legend of Sleepy Hollow & Other Haunted Tales | Thurs., Oct. 14-Sun., Oct. 31 | 7:30-9 p.m. | Fletcher Opera Theater At Duke Energy Center For The Performing Arts, 2 E. South St. | $25+ | Live performances return in time for Halloween with Artistic Director Zalman Raffael's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
  • Zambrero, a Mexican fast-casual chain, opened a location in Cary’s Parkside Town Commons. The winner of a drawing held Sept. 29-Oct.13 will get free bowls or burritos for 1 year, and Zambrero will also give free bowls + burritos to the first 1,000 customers during its grand opening Oct. 23–24.  
  • The NC State Fair is opening on Thurs., Oct 14 + coming with it are new fair foods to explore. Fair goers can now find Chef D’Lites’ Atomic Tots and Arepa Loca’s pork stuffed arepas called La Sureña (The Crazy Southerner). Other options include cornbread funnel cakes + lobster on a stick. COAST

Fri Oct 8th 8:00pm - Sun 10th 11:59pm | Phobia Haunted Trail: CarnEvil in the Woods in Leland, NC, features an outdoor Haunted House with live actors. They will not touch you, but they will work to give you nightmares. Visitors will experience scenes that some people find frightening and disturbing. All guests are requested to wear a mask. 

Sat Oct 16th 8:00am - 1:00pm |The Riverfront Farmers' Market meets on Dock Street from 2nd to Water streets on Saturdays through November 20. The market features local farmers, produce, arts and crafts, music, and more. Items change weekly depending on the season and include fresh fruits and berries, vegetables and herbs, eggs and cheeses, plants and flowers, meat and seafood, doggie treats, tea, honey, fresh baked goods, jams and jellies, wine, art, and more. Rain or shine. 

Sat Oct 16th 7:30am | The 31st Annual The River To Sea Bike Ride features a 20-mile bicycle ride along the historic route of the Wilmington Beach Car Line. Check-in is from 6:30-7:15am at the intersection of Princess Street and Second Street in downtown Wilmington. Cyclists will depart from downtown and arrive at Wrightsville Beach Park close to 8:45am. There is a 15-20 minute break before beginning the second half of the ride back downtown. All age groups and experience levels may participate in this ride but must be able to ride 20 miles at a casual pace. Helmets are required. Please note: Registration is capped at 450 participants. If you are not able to register online prior to the event, day-of registration will have a $5 charge and exact change is required.
